William II

During the short reign of king William II the double standard was abolished (1847) and the silver standard was implemented. Furthermore, nearly all silver provincial coinage was repealed between 1845 and 1849 for the production of new coins. It was during this period that a lot of famous coin collections and cabinets were started.
