A Roman bronze statuette of Alexander the Great, 1st-3rd century AD

Alexander standing, his weight shifted onto his right leg, recognizable by his long, flowing hair with a hairline starting on his forehead. Originally holding a sword and a spear, dressed in a peplos, which is elegantly draped over his body, cape around his shoulders, barefoot.

Even in Roman times Alexander the Great was already a legend. Several Roman authors have written about his life, the second century author Lucius Flavius Arrianus being the best known. Many bronze and marble statues and figurines are known, not only from Roman times but also from the Greek period.
